Reanna Ali - Creativity comes from your soul
When Reanna Ali emailed us to ask if we accept submissions from the Caribbean, a huge smile spread across my face. It was so heart warming to know that Fleur and Arbor is being read so far away from the UK, and instantly I replied. (And of course, we take submissions from all over the world!)
Studying in her final year in a Fine Art degree at the University of the West Indies, Trinidad, Reanna's work deals with the mental state and expression of emotions, she creates art that looks at love and relationships and seeks to connect with the viewer.
"Creativity to me means something that comes from your soul and trying to transcribe that into art. Creativity in my perspective is expression of one's ideas and thoughts through various art forms and mediums. For me it's trying to attempt to portray these intangible things/feelings in your mind, trying to make them come to life, it is self expression."
"I lead a creative life by sustaining hope and finding inspiration in the little things and environments that I'm in and also keep on making and creating art of course."
"A lot of Artists around the world inspire me such as Louise Bourgeois, Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet just to name a few, a lot of illustrators that I find on Instagram also inspire me a lot."
"My hopes for the future are to become a practicing artist fulltime and to travel around the world looking at different art and maybe one day exhibiting internationally."
