William Eggleston - A Life In Colour
American photographer William Eggleston is renowned for his pioneering work in colour photography. His iconic images made a big impact on the photography scene at the time.
The retrospective of his work showcased at the National Portrait Gallery in London takes you on a journey through the life of the photographer. From his lesser-known works in traditional black and white to his early experimental film works and then to his later creations that seep colour into the frames giving life to the subjects and narrative.
Immersed in the saturated colour it’s clear to see why Eggleston gained notoriety, some of his standout images are hard to look away from. The scope of the exhibition allowed me to enjoy fully all that Eggleston has offered to the photographic world and has paved the way for us to see in colour.
